
Minnesota State Picked to Repeat as Northern Sun Champions
Three Maverick Grapplers Pegged #1 Individually

St. Paul, Minn. – The Minnesota State wrestling
squad was picked to repeat as Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference
champions in the NSIC Preseason Coaches poll. The Mavericks,
owners of a 7-0 league record last season, owned a six-point edge over
Augustana and a nine-point edge over Upper Iowa and St. Cloud State who
shared third place. Additionally, three Mavericks were top picks
in their respective weight classes. Returning All-Americans Andy
Forstner (Madelia, Minn.), Travis Elg (Mountain Lake, Minn.) and Brady
Wilson (Faribault, Minn.) all won region championships last season and
sit atop the poll at 125, 157 and heavyweight, respectively.
The Mavericks open the 2009-10 season on Nov. 7th with a trip to
Brookings, S.D., for the SDSU Open. They will host Waldorf
College on Nov. 11th at Bresnan Arena, beginning at 7:00 p.m
