Once again the team and coaching staff had a great time. One of the big highlights of the day was a five-way shoot off between Nate Schmitz (Perham, Minn.), Danny Pike (Park Rapids, Minn.), Jake Long (West Central, Minn.), Josten Coleman (Oakes, N.D.) and Zach Deffinbaugh (Great Falls, Mont.). Deffinbaugh pulled out the win by using his Montana hunting skills!

2011-12 Team Captains

Four individuals have been named team captains for the 2011-2012 wrestling season. Seniors Andrew Peterson, Ben Presler, Daron Hohbein and Junior Mike Holman will be in charge of leading this year’s Cobber team.

Peterson, from Albert Lea, Minn., finished last season with an 11-10 record. Andrew is a Business Major. He will provide excellent leadership for the Cobber team and is looking forward to competing at 184 for the Cobbers.

Presler, from Royalton, Minn., is a returning NCAA National Qualifier for the Cobbers. Last year he finished with a 21-14 record. Ben is Science Education major. Ben is an outstanding leader in and out of the wrestling room and is looking forward to leading the Cobbers to another successful season.

Hohbein, from Mandan N.D., is another returning NCAA National Qualifier for the Cobbers, finishing last season with a 14-7 record. Daron is a Business Major and will provide leadership in his work ethic and determination – this will be invaluable for the 2012 season.

Holman, from Bloomington, Minn. was sidelined last season with a dislocated elbow. Mike is currently studying abroad in Spain and will return second semester. Mike is a Spanish/Business double major. He is an outstanding team guy with a tremendous work ethic that gives his all for the Cobber family.

Coach Nagel feels blessed to have such a talented and diverse group of leaders to lead the Cobbers for the 2012 season. “These young men know what is takes to become the best they be as an athlete and student and will require the same from their teammates.”

The Cobbers will open up their season on Saturday November 12, with the Bison Open in Fargo N.D. The Cobber wrestling schedule will be highlighted with competition among the top Division I , II and III teams in the country. This year Concordia will compete against Division I foes the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and NDSU, Division II opponents Augustana (S.D.), St. Cloud State, Southwest Minnesota State, University of Mary (N.D.) and MSU Moorhead.
