COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John’s University wrestling retained its sixth-ranked position in the Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division lll poll released Tuesday, Nov. 29.

The NCAA Great Lakes Region’s other ranked teams had a little shakeup in their rankings. Elmhurst (Ill.) climbed two spots to claim No. 12, while North Central (Ill.) dropped six spots to No. 17. Augsburg maintained its position at No. 7, as did Concordia-Moorhead at No. 9.

Senior Dustin Baxter (Fairbanks, Alaska/West Valley) stayed at No. 1 in D3wrestle.com’s 184-pound rankings, but moved over to No. 2 at 197 pounds according to the NWCA. Baxter posted a 3-0 record at the Augsburg Open Nov. 19, his first wrestling competition of the season. He finished second at 197 pounds due to a medical forfeit in the championship match.

Senior Matt Pfarr (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) jumped up two spots in both polls to No. 2 in the country at 174 pounds. He is expected to make his first appearance on the mat this weekend.

Senior Chad Henle (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) moved up one spot to No. 3 at 133 pounds in the NWCA rankings, but fell to No. 5 in the D3wrestle.com list. Henle claimed second at 133 pounds with a 3-1 record at the Auggie Open.

Junior Nick Schuler (Roseville, Minn./Totino-Grace) stayed at No. 6 at 165 pounds in both polls after claiming sixth at Augsburg with a 2-2 record. He is now 8-2 on the year.

Junior Mitch Hagen (Sunburg, Minn./Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg) moved up one spot to No. 9 at 197 pounds in the D3wrestle.com rankings. He is 3-1 on the season.

The Johnnies return to action at the Wisconsin-La Crosse Duals this Saturday, Dec. 3. SJU is scheduled to face No. 25 Wisconsin-Stevens Point (9 a.m.), No. 5 Cornell of Iowa (11 a.m.) and Loras of Iowa (1 p.m.).
