Dual scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Admission $1

On Friday Dec. 9 the No. 3 Minnesota Golden Gopher wrestling team will host Iowa State Cyclones in the only home dual of the season at Williams Arena. The Gophers and Cyclones are schedule to hit the mat at 7:30 p.m.

BURST THE BARN
Friday night’s dual is “Burst the Barn”. Admission is $1 for everyone.

GOPHER ALL-ACCESS
Fans who can’t make it to the dual against Iowa State, Gopher All-Access is your place to be to watch all the action. You can join Gopher All-Access for $9.95 per month or $79.95 per year. Also, this winter you can watch several Gopher men’s basketball and women’s basketball games, along with select Gopher men’s hockey and women’s hockey games. Gopher All-Access is also part of the Big Ten Digital Network. If you upgrade to the Big Ten package, you can access hundreds of live events featuring all 12 conference schools.

LAST TIME OUT
Minnesota finished its second road weekend of dual competition with a weekend split. The Gophers defeated to No. 19 Central Michigan on Friday night 24-9, to extend its all-time record against the Chippeaws to 12-0. The Gophers fell to No. 2 ranked Oklahoma State 24-13.

A LOOK AT THE CYCLONES
Iowa State is currently 0-6 overall this season. The Cyclones have squared off with No. 1 Iowa (27-9), No. 2 Oklahoma State (29-9) and No. 11 Oklahoma (22-13) this year.

ALL-TIME AGAINST IOWA STATE
Iowa State leads the all-time series against Minnesota 37-18-2. The Gophers defeated the Cyclones last year in Ames by a count of 26-13.

I AM #1
Senior Zach Sanders has moved up from the No. 2 ranking to the No. 1 ranking at 125 lbs. Sanders currently is 9-0 on the season after picking wins by technical fall and a major decision last weekend.

FOUR ALL-AMERICAN CAPTAINS
The four returning All-Americans from last season have been named as team captains for the 2011-12 season. Sanders is joined by fellow senior Sonny Yohn and sophomores Kevin Steinhaus and Tony Nelson to guide the team. At the NCAA Championships last season Sanders finished 5th (125 lbs.), Yohn 7th (197 lbs.), Steinhaus 8th (184 lbs.) and Nelson 7th (Hwt.)

BIG SCHEDULE FOR THE GOPHERS
Minnesota once again has a very full schedule against top notch programs. Of the 13 duals for the season nine of them are against opponents ranked in the top 25.

GOPHER COACHING STAFF
Minnesota’s coaching staff is led by the legend J Robinson, who enters his 26th season at the helm. Longtime assistant Joe Russell left over the summer to take the head coaching job at George Mason University. Now, Brandon Eggum has moved up to Head Assistant Coach, while Luke Becker is a full-time assistant. Former National Champion Jayson Ness has also joined the staff as an assistant for the Gophers.
