Dual scheduled to start at Noon on Sunday
The No. 4 Minnesota Gopher wrestling team will host Wisconsin on Sunday Jan. 22, in the annual Border Battle. The Gophers and Badgers will hit the mat at Noon.

LAST TIME OUT
Minnesota picked up a pair of Big Ten wins last weekend after defeating No. 15 Illinois (25-9) and then turned around and shutout Purdue 40-0. The shutout against Purdue was the fifth time in Minnesota history that the Gophers have shutout the Boilermakers and first time at Purdue since 1966 (30-0).
A LOOK AT THE BADGERS
Wisconsin is currently 5-5 overall and 0-3 in Big Ten action. Last weekend they fell to Northern Iowa 25-15 and Penn State 43-0. This Friday before making the trip to Minneapolis they will host Purdue at home. The dual will be broadcasted live on the Big Ten Network at 7 p.m.
ALL-TIME AGAINST WISCONSIN
Minnesota leads the all-time series against Wisconsin 57-33-1. The two teams split last season at the National Duals and in Big Ten dual action. Wisconsin defeated Minnesota 19-17 at the National Duals, but the Gophers came back three weeks later to defeat the Badgers 25-15 at the Sports Pavilion.
I AM No. 1
Senior Zach Sanders the No. 1 ranked wrestler at 125 lbs. Sanders currently is 19-0 on the season and has won Bison Open and Southern Scuffle titles. Sanders is also
Sanders is currently tied for 12th all-time with Willy Short on the Gophers wins list. His overall record is 121-13-0 and he is six wins away from breaking assistant coach Luke Becker’s (126-29-0) all-time record.
DEITCHLER CAREER OVER
As of Jan. 4 redshirt sophomore and former US Olympian Jake Deitchler will no longer be competing for the Gopher wrestling program due to his history with concussions that have dated back since he was 7-years old. Deitchler will still be a member of the team and will continue his education at the University of Minnesota.
GOPHER COACHING STAFF
Minnesota’s coaching staff is led by the legend J Robinson, who enters his 26th season at the helm. Longtime assistantJoe Russell left over the summer to take the head coaching job at George Mason University. Now, Brandon Eggum has moved up to Head Assistant Coach, while Luke Becker is a full-time assistant. Former National Champion Jayson Ness has also joined the staff as an assistant for the Gophers.
