SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana is ranked No. 5 in the nation, third in the region and second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the latest polls released Wednesday.

The Vikings received 127 points in the national poll conducted by the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association. Augustana climbed one spot from its No. 6 position in the Dec. 7 edition of the rankings.

Fellow NSIC-school St. Cloud State, which won the NWCA Duals last week, earned the top position with 160 points. Newberry (S.C.) was second, Upper Iowa was third and Nebraska-Kearney was fourth.

In Super Region Three, Augustana collected 40 points to check in at No. 3. SCSU and UIU were first and second, respectively.

The Vikings were second–up one spot–with 52 points in the conference rankings, falling in one point ahead of UIU. SCSU was first with 64 points.

Nate Herda continues to be the top-ranked wrestler at 149 pounds in the country, region and conference.

Jason Jeremiason, a 133-pounder, is ranked No. 2 in the nation, Super Region Three, and NSIC.

Marcus Edgington is third in the country, second in the region and first in the conference at 157 pounds.

At 174 pounds, Carl Serck is ranked fourth in the nation, third in Super Region Three and second in the NSIC.

Chism Fink is slated fifth nationally and second regionally and in the conference at 141 pounds.

Cody Lensing is No. 6 in the country, fourth in the region and third in the conference at 125 pounds.

Others in the region and NSIC rankings are Tom Davies (No. 7/region, No. 5/NSIC at 165 pounds), Jayd Docken (No. 5/region, No. 4/NSIC at 184 pounds), Brian Schultz (No. 4/region, No. 3 NSIC at 197 pounds) and Mike Roberts (No. 6/region and NSIC at 285 pounds).

Augustana (6-1) is on the road this weekend for dual encounters with a pair of Division III opponents. The Vikings are in Collegeville, Minn., Saturday for a 7 p.m. match with St. John’s (6-4) at Sexton Arena. On Sunday, Augustana travels to Moorhead, Minn., for a 2 p.m. clash with Concordia College (4-5) at Memorial Auditorium.
