MN/USA State Team Folkstyle Tournament

WHO: PeeWee (2006-2007), Bantam (2004-2005), Intermediate (2002-2003), Novice (2000-2001) and Schoolboy (1999 ONLY-6th grade ONLY) Wrestlers. This is a youth tournament; no JV or V wrestlers.

WEIGHTS: 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 115, 130, 200
    Wrestlers may wrestle up one weight class.

  1. Club may have multiple teams participating, but wrestlers are only allowed to wrestle on one team.
  2. All wrestlers must have a current MN/USA wrestling membership card.
  3. Each team may have up to three* wrestlers who do not reside within the high school boundaries in which the team is located. These wrestlers MUST be a member of the team’s club. They CANNOT be added to the roster for the sake of participating in this event.
*A wrester who is home-schooled or attends a private/chartered school but would otherwise attend that high school is considered part of that high school. If there is not a wrestling program with the high school where the athlete resides or attends school, they may participate with a bordering community.

Rosters will be disclosed at the Coaches Meeting prior to the start of the tournament. Coaches must identify their three exceptions at this meeting. 19 total wrestlers on each roster. If you have byes, you can add more to your alternates to make a 19-man roster.

***Teams must be registered to participate by February 13th, 2011. Contact Jen Pierce at 651-491-9890 or to register.

WEIGH-INS: ***Change for 2012***  8:00 am-8:45 am
  1. All teams must weigh-in at one time; no individual weigh-ins. At no time may a wrestler enter the weigh-in area and leave to cut more weight. Same rules as high school team weigh-ins.
  2. Wrestlers must weigh-in with a competition singlet
  3. There will be a test scale on-site
  4. All wrestlers on a given team must weigh-in together. ***All teams will be staged at 8:00 am, lined up in weigh order, ready to weigh-in.  There will be no more weight cutting after 8:00 am. No exceptions.***
  5. Skin checks will be performed prior to weigh-ins. Any wrestlers with skin conditions must provide a doctor clearance and must state the wrestler is not contagious. Final determination will be made by those performing skin checks.

FORMAT: Teams will be seeded into pools of three to four teams (depending on number of teams participating) at the Coaches Meeting.

Matches will consist of three 1-minute periods.

MSHSL rules will be enforced, including conduct on the mat (both wrestlers and coaches).

All wrestlers are required to wear a singlet and headgear.

AWARDS: 1st thru 6th place will receive individual medals and 1st thru 4th will receive a team plaque.
