Maas runner-up at NHSCA National Championships

Six Minnesotans earned All-American honors by placing in the top eight at the NHSCA National High School Wrestling Championships held March 24-28 at Virginia Beach, VA.

Thousands of wrestlers from 47 states and two European countries competed in separate three-day tournaments split by grade in high school – freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior divisions.

The highest placer for Team Minnesota was Curt Maas of Medford who was runner-up at 135 pounds in the Sophomore division.

Other Minnesota All-Americans were – Senior Division: Tommy Glenn of Simley – 6th Place at 135 pounds, and Spencer Johnson of Windom Area/Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin – 6th Place at 189 pounds; Junior Division: Zach Rohr of Hastings – 4th Place at 145 pounds; Sophomore Division: Mitch Steffens of Wadena-Deer Creek – 6th Place at 112 pounds; and Brett Pfarr of LeSueur-Henderson – 4th Place at 145 pounds.
