Luther Norse host Wartburg tonight, Matman Invite on Saturday

The Luther College Norse Wrestling Team will host 2011 NWCA National Duals Champion Wartburg tonight. The Norse always aim high and will fight hard tonight. The Norse were 1-2 at The National Duals over the weekend.

The No. 16 Seeded Norse dropped matches to No. 1 Seeded Augsburg and a 24-12 dual to 9th seeded Cornell.

The Norse started strong with Dan Mendoza (125) securing a fall in the Cornell Dual, and finished with wins in the end from Bradon Reyerson (Glenville, MN-197), and local Decorah native Taylor Mansfield (HWT.)

In the third dual provided by tournament format, the Norse looked strong in defeating Heidleburg 25-14. The Norse claimed four straight wins to start out the dual from the likes of Mendoza, Louis Mazetta, Kevin Bokoski, and 2X All-American Jason Pyle. A pair of promising freshmen in the likes of Jarid Groth (Wanamingo, MN) with a stunning fall in a tight match at 174, and Nick Jazdzewski (Burlington, WI) sealed the deal for The Norse.

The Norse will dispatch several wrestlers Saturday to Mount Vernon, IA for The Matman Invite, hosted by Cornell College.
