SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana wrestling team is ranked first in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and second in Super Regional Three in the latest rankings released Tuesday. The Vikings accumulated 57 points in the conference rankings and 48 in the region rankings.
St. Cloud State collected 49 points to take the No. 1 position in Super Regional Three.
For both the conference and region ranking system, each individual in the top five receives points (No. 1 = 10 points, No. 2 = 7 points, No. 3 = 4 points, No. 5 = 1 point).
In the NSIC rankings, Nate Herda was the top pick at 149 pounds, while Ty Copsey was also No. 1 at 197 pounds.
Jason Jeremiason (133 pounds), Jay Sherer (141 pounds), Marcus Edgington (157 pounds), Gavin Nelson (165 pounds) and Carl Serck (174 pounds) were all in No. 2 spots.
Al Meger (125 pounds) and Lance Peters (285 pounds) were both No. 5 at their respective weights, while Tom Davies was No. 7 at 184 pounds.
Copsey was the lone Viking to take a top spot regionally. Sherer, Herda, Edgington and Nelson were all ranked second.
Jeremiason and Serck checked in at No. 3, Meger and Peters at No. 5 and Davies at No. 7.
Augustana (11-1, 5-0 NSIC), ranked No. 2 in Division II, will face a non-conference and conference opponent on the road this week, traveling to Dakota Wesleyan (1-4) on Thursday and Southwest Minnesota State (4-2, 0-2 NSIC) on Friday. Both duals begin at 7 p.m.
