KEARNEY, Neb. – Southwest Minnesota State senior wrestler CD Johnson concluded his season on Friday at the NCAA Championships in Kearney, Neb. Johnson lost both of his matches on Friday at the national tournament hosted by the Unviersity of Nebraska-Kearney.
Johnson lost his opening round 184-pound bout to Aaron Denson of Nebraska-Omaha who is ranked No. 3 in the nation in the 184-pound weight class. Denson won an 8-0 major decision over Johnson.
The senior then took on Andrew Bentzel of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and lost a 5-3 decision to Bentzel.
Johnson was the only Mustang to qualify for the national tournament this season and qualified for the second consecutive year. He finishes his career at SMSU with a record of 78-82 ranking 11th all-time in school history in career wins.
The Mustang wrestling team finished the 2010-11 season 8-4-1 overall and 3-4 in NSIC action.
