LA CROSSE, Wis. – St. Olaf’s Ryan Timmerman won each of his three matches on Saturday to finish third at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.
Timmerman, who lost in the quarterfinal round of the winner’s bracket, won each of his final four bouts to finish 5-1 at the event. On Saturday he defeated Luther’s Kevin Bokoski (fall – 3:26), Youk’s Chris Albright (12-7) and Cornell’s Kevin Donahue (7-4) to earn third place.
Waples finished eighth after picking up two victories on Friday and dropping each of his two matches on Saturday.
The two All-America finishes gave the Oles a 16th place finish as a team.
St. Olaf picked up another honor, as assistant coach Jeff Bullerman was named the Assitant Coach of the Year. Bullerman took over the program on an interim basis last season when head coach Sean Ahrar, a member of the US Navy, was deployed for service.
