Concordia makes new addition to coaching staff

Clay and Matt Nagel are pleased to announce the new addition to the 2011-2012 Concordia Wrestling program. Nick Magee will join the Cobbers as an assistant coach this coming fall. Magee originates from Hudson, Wisconsin where he was a state runner-up and a two-time medal winner and high school All-American.

Magee then went on to wrestle at North Dakota State University, where he compiled an outstanding career. Magee was a member of the 2001 Bison NCAA Division II championship team, 2001 and 2004 National Dual team champions. Magee was also a member of the 2001, 2002 and 2004 NCC Conference Championship teams.

Magee was an NCC Conference champion and NCAA North Region champion at 133. He is a two-time NCAA Division II qualifier and became an NCAA All-American taking fourth place. While at NDSU Magee was also MVP in 2005 and team captain.

While at NDSU Magee also earned a Bachelor’s degree in physical education. After graduating from NDSU Magee was a student assistant at NDSU in 2006. From there he moved on to be an assistant coach at Apple Valley and helped the Eagles to a 42-2 record and a team state title.

In 2008 Magee took the head coaching position at Fargo North and coached three state champions, seven state finalists and twenty-one medal winners in four seasons. In 2009 and 2010 he qualified the Spartans for the North Dakota state competition. Magee is currently finishing up his Masters degree in curriculum and instruction with St. Catherine’s University.

“Magee will be a great asset to the Concordia program and we have been looking for a light weight coach to help mentor our smaller weight classes,” says Head Coach Clay Nagel. “We look forward to having him on board!”
