The St. Cloud State University Wrestling Program hosted its 6th Annual Husky Golf Classic on Friday August 26th 2011 at Wapicada Golf course. This year was the largest in the six year history of the Golf Classic. This serves as one of the many fundraisers for the program.
“The University and the Takedown Club would like to take the time and thank all the local businesses and all those who participated in the 6th Annual Husky Golf Classic,” said assistant coach Brady Wilson. “It was also great to see everyone out enjoying the weather and we are lucky to have great support from the Husky Wrestling family.”
A total of 13 teams participated in this year’s event. The teams were made up of friends, family, boosters, alumni, and local community members of SCSU Wrestling. 1st place went to Team Ganyo, the team included Greg Ganyo, Gary Smith, Jim Harstad, and Mark Butterman and 2nd place went to Team Schultz, the team included Mike Schultz, Chad Becker, Roger Sieve, and Jeff Habisch. The winner was determined on a tie breaker as both teams finished with the same scores.
“We would also like to take the time to thanks all of our hole sponsors and all of the local businesses who donated raffle prizes that made our raffle a huge success,” said assistant coach Tyson Reiner. “Without the continued support from the local business, family, friends, alumni, and boosters we would not be able to have this annual event.”
The St. Cloud State University wrestling team opens up their season on Friday, November 4th as the Huskies host their Annual Black/Red Classic starting at 7 P.M.
