State champion Sam Brancale of Eden Prairie has given a verbal commitment to attend the University of Minnesota and wrestle for the Gophers following his upcoming senior season.
Brancale is a three-time state placewinner. He won the 103-pound Class AAA state championship as a sophomore. He placed third at 119 pounds as a junior and sixth at 103 pounds as a freshman.
Brancale was a FILA Cadet National double All-American the past two years. He is ranked as the 56th overall senior recruit in the nation by InterMat.
