Scott West state champion Michael Kroells has given a verbal commitment to attend the University of Minnesota and wrestle for the Gophers following his upcoming senior season.
Kroells is a three-time state place winner. He won the 215-pound Class AA state championship as a Junior. He was runner-up at 189 pounds as a sophomore and sixth at 189 pounds as a freshman. Kroells was a USA Wrestling Cadet Folkstyle National Champion in 2010. His current career record is 133-28.
Michael is ranked as the 63rd overall senior recruit in the nation by InterMat.
Kroells was The Guillotine’s top 2011 Academic All-State wrestler with a perfect 47-0 season record, and a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Michael’s parents are Lori Kroells, Larry Kroells and Laura Cunningham and his coaches are Darren Ripley and Jerold Stauffacher.
