Four from Augustana earn titles at Dakota Wesleyan Open

MITCHELL, S.D. – Jason Jeremiason, Chism Fink, Marcus Edgington and Jayd Docken all won titles for Augustana Saturday at the Dakota Wesleyan Open, highlighting 18 top-six finishes by the Vikings at the event.

Jeremiason won all five of his bouts on the day and beat Morningside’s Garret Lambrecht 7-4 for the 133-pound championship.

Fink also went 5-0. He wrestled unattached and topped TJ Moen of Grandview in the 149-pound title tilt.

Also competing unattached at 165 pounds, Edgington went 4-0 en route to his first-place finish He put the finishing touches on a stellar day by downing South Dakota State’s Dillon Reid on a 16-4 major decision for the title.

Docken earned top honors at 184 pounds after going 4-0 and thumping Morningside’s Brian Block on an 11-2 major decision in the championship bout.

A host of Vikings turned in strong performances Saturday.

TJ North was the 125-pound runner-up, while Taylor Harris (unattached) collected identical accolades at 285 pounds.

Shawn Hatlestad (149, unattached), Bradyn Neises (165), Sean Derry (184, unattached) and Brian Schultz (197) all placed third.

Tim Weber (165, unattached) and Jeff Nielsen (197) both finished fourth.

Jake Lillie and Garret Heiberger, both unattached, shared fifth place at 157 pounds, and Mike Roberts placed fifth in the 285-pound division.

Other place winners included Parker Swanson (149, sixth), Tom Davies (165, sixth), Brandon Chesnut (133, seventh, unattached) and Zach Friederich (141, eighth, unattached).

Augustana is off until Dec. 3 when the Vikings travel to the MSU Moorhead Open.
