FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State wrestling team will open Western Wrestling Conference action Tuesday, Dec. 6 with a home dual against South Dakota State. Action begins at 7 p.m. at the Bison Sports Arena. The Bison (0-1) and Jackrabbits (1-1) will be meeting for the 55th time in series history.

The Bison lead the all-time series with the Jackrabbits, 36-17-1. NDSU won last year’s meeting in Brookings, 43-7, winning eight of the ten bouts. The Jacks beat the Bison 23-22 in 2010, snapping a 16-match winless streak in the series.
Scouting the Jackrabbits
SDSU is coming off a strong showing at the UNI Open on Dec. 3 as five Jackrabbits placed in the top six. Aaron Pickrel took first at 125 pounds, while Nick Flynn was second at 157 pounds. The Jacks have a 1-1 record in duals this season, splitting at the Campbell Triangular Nov. 18, defeating Davidson and falling to Campbell.
Three Bison place at Las Vegas Invitational
No. 17 Steven Monk finished in fourth place at 157 pounds to lead NDSU at the elite Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Dec. 2-3. No. 7 Trent Sprenkle took fifth at 125 pounds, while redshirt freshman Kurtis Julson was eighth at 174 pounds.
