#1 St. Cloud State Wrestling Scores 23-19 win at Abedeen
The #1 ranked St. Cloud State wrestling team scored a 23-19 victory at Northern State on Jan. 13 in Aberdeen. S.D. The victory improved SCSU’s record to 12-0 on the season in 2011-12.
SCSU opened the match with a 2-0 OT win by Dylan Wright of SCSU at 125-pounds. Zach Stewart of SCSU gained a forfeit vicotry to help SCSU gain a 9-0 lead at 133-pounds. The points continued for SCSU with a 10-2 win by Matt Leibforth over Terrance Fox of Augustana at 141-pounds.
At 149-pound. Beau Voegeli scored an 11-9 win over Josh Howk of SCSU. Neil Sell and Blake Lungren gained wins for the Wolves at 157-pound and 165-pounds.
At 174 pounds, SCSU’s Tad Merritt posted an 18-0 major decision at 174-pounds, while Chad Gibson charted a 7-2 win over Kurt Salmen of SCSU at 184. Mic Berg scored a 1:23 pin fall for the Huskies at 197. At 285, NSU’s Matt Meuleners added a 14-0 win over Calen White of SCSU.
The Huskies will continue their weekend on the road with a Jan. 15 date at Noon against Mary in Bismarck, N.D.
