No. 1 Huskies pound Wisconsin-Eau Claire 41-3
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The No. 1 ranked St. Cloud State University wrestling squad made easy work of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds in a 41-3 match Wednesday night at Halenbeck Hall.
The Huskies (13-0) opened their first home event of the season with a pair of forfeits in the 125 and 133-pound class before freshman Jay Hildreth (Council Bluffs, Iowa) pinned his opponent in 1:51 to take a commanding 18-0 lead.
Junior Jacob R. Horn (St. Michael) then recorded the only other pin of the match in the 157-pound match as he recorded a pin in the second round (3:47).
Sophomore Jack Barnes (Inver Grove Heights) recorded a major 11-3 win in the 174-pound class and sophomore Chris Brassell (Park Ridge, Ill.) recorded the second and final major decision of the day at 197 with a 12-4 win.
Freshman Dan Dick (Inver Grove Heights) earned a 7-2 win over in the 165-pound division, before junior Kurt Salmen (Dassel) won the 184-pound match with a 6-3 victory.
Heavyweight and freshman Caleb White (Neola, Iowa) finished the night with a 3-1 win after recording a takedown late in the third period to end the night.
The Huskies will be back on the road this week, as they compete against Concordia College, Moorhead at 7:00 p.m. Friday night in Moorhead, Minn.
