The Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association, The MN National Guard, and The Guillotine are proud to recognize Blue Earth, New London-Spicer, and Eastview as the state academic team champions for the 2011-2012 wrestling season.
These three teams had the highest grade point averages for their respective classes. Blue Earth topped the entire field with an impressive 3.91 team gpa to win the Class A title. New London-Spicer won the Class AA crown with a 3.90 team gpa. Eastview had a 3.79 team gpa to pace the Class AAA schools. These teams will all be awarded banners to be displayed at their schools.
Ninety-Four teams from around the state qualified for this year’s Academic Team Award. To be eligible for the award, the team’s head coach must be a member of the MWCA and the average gpa of the 10 highest gpa’s of a team’s nineteen man post-season roster must be 3.0 or higher. All teams that meet the criteria are awarded a plaque from the MWCA. If a team’s gpa is 3.0-3.49 they earn a silver plaque, while a gpa of 3.5-4.0 earns a gold plaque.
