Burnsville, Minn. — Minnesota State University sophomore 125-lb David Demo has been named the NSIC Wrestler of the Week for a 2-0 weekend announced by conference officials Monday morning. Demo, who now stands at 22-9, is the second consecutive Maverick to earn the award as 149-lb Jesse Westphal garnered the award last week.
Demo’s weekend was highlighted by a 12-8 decision win over the nation’s No.7 Dylan Wright of St. Cloud State. Demo backed up his win on Thursday night by defeating Travis Borchert (SMSU) 11-5, Borchert was ranked No. 9 in the region.
Head Coach Jim Makovsky earned his 250th career win on Thursday night as the Minnesota State defeated the Southwest Minnesota State 23-15.
MSU will travel to St. Cloud on Sunday to wrestle in the NCAA DIvision II Regionals.
