For much of this season, the Gophers’ biggest wrestlers have also been their best. And that power trio — Kevin Steinhaus, Sonny Yohn and Tony Nelson — relish the chance to prove it starting Saturday at the Big Ten meet at Purdue.
Steinhaus (184 pounds), Yohn (197) and Nelson (heavyweight) are Minnesota’s three No. 1 seeds in the tournament. They also happen to wrestle at the three heaviest weights, which often gives Minnesota an edge down the stretch in dual meets and could create the same late edge this weekend.
