St. Cloud State’s Costanzo Named NSIC Coach of the Year

St. Cloud State University wrestling coach Steve Costanzo has been named as the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Costanzo was voted by his peers for this award, which is handed out annually by the NSIC. St. Cloud State enjoyed its best seasons in team history as it placed second in the nation for the second straight year at the 2012 NCAA Division II championships; won the 2012 NCAA Division II Super Region #3 title and set a team record with a 21-0 dual meet record in 2011-12.

The Huskies also won the 2012 NSIC championship with a perfect 7-0 record, which marks the first time since 1977-78 that the Huskies have won a conference championship.

The second place national finish tied for the highest national tournament finish for the Huskies in team history, and the Huskies took top honors for the first time at the elite NWCA National Duals in 2012. Coach Costanzo’s overall record at SCSU currently stands at 79-23.
