Ulmer and Bennett Named to All-NSIC Wrestling Teams

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Two Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestlers were included on the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams list released Thursday, March 22. Corey Ulmer and Jacob Bennett were named to the first and second teams after finishing their seasons at the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Corey Ulmer was the lone Dragon named to the All-NSIC First Team, his second All-NSIC team honor as a Dragon. The Ashley, N.D., native won the 125-pound class at the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 tournament to earn the honor. He finished his season with a record of 27-3 after an early exit at the NCAA DII National Championships. Ulmer posted a record of 1-2 at the championships in Pueblo, Colo. The senior ended his regular season as the No. 1 ranked 125-pound wrestler in the country. The 27-win mark led the Dragons for the third consecutive season. Between Dec. 3 and Feb. 26, Ulmer racked up an undefeated record of 19-0.

Jacob Bennett was named to the All-NSIC Second Team following his NSIC runner-up finish at the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 tournament. He earned his way into the NCAA DII National Championships but was sent home following two matches. The junior earned 20 wins on the season, the second among current Dragons. Bennett used a late-season push to earn a spot at the national championships in Pueblo, Colo.
