SCSU Wrestling Wall Ceremony honoring Skala and Merritt set for Sept. 29

St. Cloud State University Wrestling will be celebrating the Derek Skala and Tad Merritt “Wall Ceremony” on Saturday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the wrestling room located inside the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse.

Derek Skala won the 184-pound NCAA DII national championship this past March in Pueblo, CO, while teammate Tad Merritt earned his fourth All-America certificate.

Skala’s National Championship banner, along with Merritt’s All-America banner, will be unveiled during the ceremony and will forever be immortalized on the wall of the wrestling room to inspire future champions.  Also, fans will have the opportunity to watch a brief highlight video of Skala and Merritt’s run to a memorable season as well as getting their view on their story book careers.

Following the ceremony, all are encouraged to stay for the Husky Football game as the Huskies take on Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival University of Minnesota Duluth at 6:00 p.m.  At the end of the first quarter of play, the 2012 NCAA National Runner-Up Husky Wrestling Team will be introduced.  Don’t miss this historical day as we honor two of the all-time great Husky wrestlers and wrestling team.
