St. Cloud, Minn. – The seventh annual Husky Fall Wrestling Clinic was a big hit this past weekend on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Over 70 participants and coaches attended the one day event on Saturday, Oct. 27 in the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse.
Former St. Cloud State University wrestling great and guest clincian Derek Skala highlighted the event as the clinic serves as an annual kick-off to the 2012-13 wrestling season.
“This was a great opportunity for kids of all ages,” said Assistant Coach Tyson Reiner. “We had a great group of kids in attendance and we appreciate their support.”
The Huskies’ next youth wrestling clinics will be held in June 2013 as they will offer several clinic options to choose from. St. Cloud State wrestling is gearing up for their Annual Black/Red Classic on Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies are currently ranked #2 in the 2012-13 pre-season NCAA Div. II poll. SCSU charted a perfect 21-0 dual record in the 2011-12 and finished as the runner-up at the 2012 NCAA Division II championships.
The 2012 NSIC champions, the Huskies also won top honors in 2012 at the NWCA Division II National Duals and the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 meet.
