SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier announced today the signing of two student-athletes for the 2013-14 season. Aero Amo from Rapid City, S.D. and Zach Schuman from Crooks, S.D. have both signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Augustana.
Amo will graduate from Rapid City Central High School in 2013 as a four-year letterwinner. In three seasons at Rapid City, Amo has compiled a career record of 134-25 and has placed three times at the state tournament, including third place finishes as a sophomore and junior. Amo has recorded 88 pins in his career and has participated in multiple national tournaments. In July, Amo competed at the Disney Duals where he went 14-0 to earn All-America status.
Schuman will graduate from Tri-Valley High School in 2013 as a four-year letterwinner and two-time all-conference honoree. He has compiled a career record of 125-20 in three seasons and has been a member of two conference championship teams. Schuman was a member of the runner-up team at the state tournament last season and was a part of a third-place finish at the state tournament as a sophomore.
“We are very excited about the addition of Aero and Zach to the Viking wrestling program,” Reitmeier said. “Both of these individuals have been outstanding on the mat during their high school careers, but they both have also excelled in the classroom. I expect both of them to have an immediate impact on our program.”
Augustana has competed in three open tournaments this season and will begin the dual portion of its schedule competing in a triangular meet on Dec. 7 in Jackson, Minn.
Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
