Vikings place four unattached wrestlers at Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, Iowa – Augustana placed four unattached wrestlers at the Buena Vista Open on Saturday afternoon in Storm Lake, Iowa. Morgan Engbrecht was the 125-pound champion in the open tournament.

Augustana VikingsEngbrecht opened the day by pinning Adrian Lozano of Western Iowa before picking up two decisions and a major decision on his way to the title bout. In the championship, Engbrecht defeated Oscar Marin of York in a 6-0 decision.

Brandon Charbonneau finished fourth at 141 pounds dropping the third-place bout in a 7-3 decision to Walker Marshall of Grand View. Charbonneau started off the day with a bye before picking up two straight major decisions. He lost the semifinal bout in an 11-8 decision to Steven Gutschenritter of Buena Vista. He wrestled his way back for a shot at third place.

Jacob Anderson picked up a fourth-place finish at 149 pounds falling in the third-place match in an 11-7 decision to Sean Dulom of Iowa Western. Anderson defeated Dulom earlier in the day pinning him in 4:14 to get to the semifinals where he lost a 3-2 decision to Tyler Boyer of Midland.

Michael Lowman won third place at 295 pounds earning 4-0 decision over Lonnie Brown of Midland. Lowman opened the day with a pin over Matt Solomon of Briar Cliff before winning a 13-1 major decision over Jacob Nelson of Buena Vista to get to the semifinals. There, Lowman was pinned by Morningside’s Tyler Kacmarynski.
