Canby will be hosting the Lancer Wrestling Extravaganza on Saturday, January 26th. Wrestling will be contested at three levels throughout the day – youth, high school, and college.
The action begins with an 8-team youth dual wrestling tournament at 9:00 AM. Teams participating are: Waconia, BOLD, Minneota, Marshall/Lakeview, YME, Redwood Falls, Watertown, SD and Canby. Each team will have 3 matches in the competition and they should finish up around 12:30 PM.
High School and Junior Varsity matches will begin at 1:30 PM and feature 3 solid teams in Waconia, St. James, and Canby. The first round will be Waconia and St. James, followed by Canby and St. James at 3:15*, and then Canby and Waconia at 5:00*. Second and third round duals will begin approximately 15 minutes after the completion of the previous match.
The Final Portion of the Extravaganza will feature the Division II #1 ranked St. Cloud State Huskies and up-and-coming Division II opponent Southwest Minnesota State. It should be a great dual and will feature some local athletes from Minneota, Slayton, Pipestone, and St. James wrestling for SMSU. The match will begin at 7:30 PM. It is fan appreciation night with all students and HS wrestlers getting in for $1 and Adults are $6. Please come out and see some great action.
