A changing of the guard in Class 3A and Class 2A might be in store when the state high school wrestling tournament begins a three-day run Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Xcel Energy Center.
For the first time in many years, Apple Valley and Simley are not favored to win in their respective classes. Apple Valley, the eight-time defending big-school champion, is seeded second behind St. Michael-Albertville. Simley, winner of the past five Class 2A titles, is the No. 2 behind Kasson-Mantorville.
