Rochester Community and Technical College Sends 8 to Nationals; Wins the MCAC Championship

The Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets competed in the NJCAA North Central District this past Sunday in Willmar, Minn. This tournament also serves as a double for the MCAC Championship.

The Yellowjackets qualified eight wrestlers for the NJCAA National Championship, which will be held at the Richard O. Jacobson Center in Des Moines, IA on Feebruary 22-23.

The Jackets had four wrestlers make the finals of the tournament: Carson Henry, Dominic Sipe, Joe Bunne, and Jake Minske. Minske won the Championship at HWT with a close 2-1 decision over Zane Peterson of Ridgewater.

“This is the time of year that guys need to get excited about wrestling,” said RCTC Coach Randy Rager. “It is the culmination of the hard work, long hours, and discipline that they have been putting in throughout the year. This team has done some amazing things this year, and they are all great people. I look forward to sitting in their corner down in Des Moines.”
