The St. Cloud State University wrestling team, which has won two consecutive NSIC championships and three consecutive NCAA Division II Super 3 Region crowns, will open its 2013-14 season on Nov. 8 with the annual Black/Red Intrasquad Match in Halenbeck Hall.
The Huskies will then open its regular season on Nov. 16 with its annual trip to the Harold Nichols/Hawkeye Open in Ames, Iowa. SCSU will open its dual match season at home on Dec. 5 with a 7 p.m. date against local rival St. John’s University in Halenbeck Hall.
SCSU will be on the road to Moorhead on Dec. 7 for the annual MSUM Dragon Open and the Huskies will hit I-94 for a return trip on Dec. 12 to Concordia-Moorhead for a dual match.
Next up for SCSU fans will be the Holiday Inn/Husky Open, which will take place on Dec. 14 in Halenbeck. This annual tournament features many of the region’s top collegiate wrestlers.
To open the new year, the Huskies will travel east to Ashland, Ohio on Jan. 5 for the Mid-Atlantic Duals. The two-time defending NWCA Division II National Duals champions, SCSU will put its title on the line at the 2014 NWCA National Duals on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12. This year, the tournament will find a new home in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Huskies’ tournament season will wrap up on Jan. 18 with a trip to the UW-Parkside Ranger Duals in Kenosha, Wis.
SCSU’s NSIC schedule will kick-off on Jan. 24 with a trip to Northern State followed on Jan. 25 with a dual at Minnesota State, Moorhead. The Huskies won the NSIC crown in 2012-13 with an 8-0 and they also posted a 21-0 record for the second consecutive season.
The Huskies have won 47 consecutive dual matches, which has tied the NCAA Division II record for most consecutive dual match wins.
On Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, the Huskies will venture to Minot State and the University of Mary for two more NSIC duals before returning home on Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 for duals against Southwest Minnesota State and Augustana respectively.
To round out the NSIC season, the Huskies will travel to Minnesota State in Mankato for a Feb. 13 match and then return to Halenbeck for a dual against Upper Iowa on Feb. 15.
The new look NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional tournament will take place on March 1-2, which will serve as the qualifier for this year’s NCAA Division II championships on March 14-15 in Cleveland, Ohio.
