Oct 202013

A distinguished group of people from the wrestling community came together on October 19th at Augsburg College to honor and celebrate Greco-Roman wrestling history.

Two Greco-Roman wrestling greats, a legendary coach, and a prominent wrestling family were recognized for their achievements in the sport of wrestling.

Matt Lindland, Brandon Paulson, J Robinson, and the Short Family were recognized by the Alan & Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions. This was the fourth induction class into the Greco-Roman Hall of Champions.

Lindland and Paulson were inducted as Distinguished Members. Each won a silver medal at the Olympics and a silver medal at the World Championships. J Robinson received the Alan Rice Leadership Award while the Short Family of Minnesota received the Family Legacy Award.

Lindland, Paulson, Robinson and Will Short all spoke about their wrestling experiences.

Master of Ceremonies was Kyle Klingman. Other speakers were Alan Rice (namesake of the Hall of Champions), Leroy Smith, Steve Fraser, Dan Chandler, and Dan Gable.

The Alan & Gloria Rice Greco-Roman Hall of Champions is located inside the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa.
