Dragon Wrestlers Dominate Jamestown to Open Dual Season, 41-0

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Pins from freshmen Blake Bosch and Tyler Schlosser helped the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team earn a 41-0 win over the University of Jamestown in a nonconference dual Thursday night in Jamestown, N.D.

MSUM is now 1-0 in duals, while Jamestown fell to 0-1. The Dragons beat the Jimmies by an identical 41-0 score.

MSU-Moorhead DragonsBosch got the Dragons on the board at 125 pounds with a pin of Joseph Murillo in 4:33. That fall gave them a 6-0 lead.

Redshirt freshman Austin Leibel pushed the MSUM lead to 9-0 with an 8-3 win over Coby Horner at 133 pounds. Junior Philippe Walker added a solid 6-1 decision win at 141 for MSUM, and freshman Garrett Hoffner added a 6-0 win at 149 to push the MSUM lead to 15-0.

Redshirt freshman Dan Murakami edged Jevon Schahbert at 157 pounds to give the Dragons an 18-0 lead.

The Dragons won the next two matches by technical fall. Sophomore Jesse Puncochar cruised to a 15-0 win over Zachary Pickering at 15-0, while junior Michael Joseph was equally dominant in a 19-3 win over Tucker Davison at 174. Those two wins extended MSUM’s advantage to 28-0 lead.

The closest match of the night came at 184 pounds when Dragon senior Matt Lewellen edged Jaykob Miller, 2-1.

Schlosser earned a win by fall at 197 as he pinned Demetreus Roby in 2:06 to move the lead to 37-0.

Junior Gerad Fugleberg finished off the perfect night for MSUM with a 13-2 major decision win over Antonio Lopez at 285.

MSUM is back in action on Saturday at the Cobber Open at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
