After defeating No. 1 Meeks, Scott Schiller earns Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors
MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota redshirt junior, Scott Schiller, was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week after a standout performance for the Gophers on Saturday evening against Oregon State.
Schiller, an All-American, helped lead the Gophers to a 28-12 victory over No. 9 Oregon State as he posted a 3-1 sudden overtime victory over then No. 1 Taylor Meeks. The bout was a rematch of an earlier matchup between the two top-ranked wrestlers at 197-pounds where Meeks was able to come away with the victory.
With the victory over Meeks, Schiller moves into the top spot in the 197-pound weight class. This is the second Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honor for Schiller.
The Gophers will travel to take on Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. CT. Schiller will likely take on No. 9 Blake Rosholt.
