Dragons to Host Concordia and Minot State This Week

Davies-Moorhead High Match to Precede Match with Cobbers

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team is back in action with two home matches on the schedule next week. MSUM will face crosstown rival Concordia College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and then will return to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Thursday against Minot State (7 p.m. first match).

MSU-Moorhead DragonsBoth matches are at Nemzek Fieldhouse (Live Web Stream). The Concordia match will be MSUM’s first dual since Jan. 25.

Tuesday’s match is part of a special night at Nemzek, as the MSUM-Concordia match will be preceded by a high school dual between Fargo (N.D.) Davies and Moorhead. That dual will begin at 5 p.m. at Nemzek. Fans can purchase one ticket and see both matches on the evening.

MSUM is coming off of a pair of tough home losses, as the Dragons fell to Southwest Minnesota State, 19-15 on Jan. 23 and then fell to No. 3-ranked St. Cloud State on Jan. 25.

Freshman Blake Bosch (125 pounds) went 2-0 on the week for MSUM, while freshman Shane Novak (133), freshman Garret Hoffner (149), redshirt freshman Dan Murakami (157) and junior Conner Monk (174) each went 1-1 for that week.

Senior Matt Lewellen leads MSUM with a 23-11 record at 184 pounds, while Bosch is 14-9 at 125. Hoffner is 11- 8 at 149 pounds. Novak also has double-digit wins as he has a 12-13 mark. Freshman Tyler Schlosser is 11-14 at 197 pounds.

Kris Nelson is in his fifth season as MSUM’s head coach.

About Concordia: Concordia, which has been ranked as high as No. 2 in the Division III poll, is 12-4 (before Dickinson) on the season. The Cobbers are coming off of a 29-18 win over Dickinson State on Jan. 30 in their last dual action. Jacoby Bergerson (133 pounds) and Jacob Long (149) are each 20-7 for Concordia, while Kyle LeDuc (157) is 20-8. Matt Nagel is in his first season as Concordia’s head coach.

About Minot State: Minot State is 1-11 overall and 0-5 in the NSIC. The Beavers lost to nationally-ranked St. Cloud State (49-0) and Upper Iowa (34-15) at home last weekend. Tiger Paasch leads the Minot lineup with a 15-14 record at 174 pounds while Joshua Douglas is 11-11 at 133 pounds.
