South Dakota state champ Bice set to join Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana wrestling head coach Jason Reitmeier announced the signing of Sean Bice of Winner, S.D. to the 2014 recruiting class. Bice is the ninth newcomer scheduled to join the Augustana wrestling squad this fall.

Bice comes to Augustana after a stellar six-year career wrestling for the Winner High School Warriors that culminated with a state championship his senior season. Qualifying for the state meet four times, placing top-eight three times, Bice compiled a 155-22 record during his final four years of high school wrestling, including a 46-1 mark during his senior campaign.

Augustana Vikings“We are extremely excited to have Sean joining our program,” Reitmeier said. “Sean has been on our radar for years. We love his aggressive, physical, and offensive style. He is also an excellent student, graduating number one in his class. Sean has the ability and attitude to challenge for a starting spot immediately.”

Bice turned in a great junior season that featured a 33-2 record before he broke his thumb and was unable to finish the season. In his final high school season, Bice led the Warriors to an eighth-place finish in the 2014 Class B South Dakota Wrestling Championships and wrestled to a runner-up finish as a sophomore.

Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
