Minnesota Storm wrestler Andy Bisek wins Bronze medal at World Championships

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Minnesota Storm wrestler Andy Bisek opened with a 5-0 win over Greece’s Petros Manoulidis in Greco-Roman at 75 kg/165 lbs. Bisek came from behind to score an upset victory over Olympic and World champion Roman Vlasov of Russia in the second round.

In the quarterfinals Bisek dropped a 1-0 decision to World bronze medalist Neven Zugaj of Croatia. Zugaj finished with the Silver medal.

Bisek defeated Finland’s Veli-Karri Suominen 6-5 in the repechage. Bisek rallied from a 5-2 deficit before scoring a takedown and gut wrench to secure his chance at a medal. Suominen placed fifth in the World last year.

Bisek scored an 8-0 tech fall against Hiroyuki Shimizu of Japan in his bronze-medal match.
