Mavericks Ink McIntire During Early Signing Period

Mankato, Minn. — Wrestling coach Jim Makovsky has announced that Colby McIntire (Rock Rapids, Iowa) has signed a NCAA Letter of Intent to attend Minnesota State University.

McIntire, who attends Central Lyon High School, wrestles at 141/149 and is a three-time state tournament qualifier. He finished second at state as a junior and was fourth during his sophomore season and enters his senior year with 113 career wins. He plans on majoring in civil engineering at Minnesota State.

“Colby is a tough, hard-working kid who has been a three-sport athlete in high school and we like that for a variety of reasons,” said Makovsky, who is in his 22nd season as head coach of the Mavericks. “He has had a great prep career going into this year and we feel that he has the potential for a great college career once he is 100% focused on one sport. We think he is going to be a great fit for Minnesota State.”

All signings are contingent upon admission to Minnesota State and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
