MANKATO, Minn. – A total of eleven attached and nine unattached wrestlers from Minnesota State will be competing at the UNI Open on Saturday in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Adam Cooling (So., 157 lbs.) looks to keep his winning streak alive after going 5-0 Saturday with a first place finish at the Buena Vista Open. Da’Wayne Robertson (Jr., 125 lbs.) recorded four falls in route to a second-place finish.
Darick Vancura (So., 174 lbs.) and Scott VanDeLoo (Jr., 184 lbs.) both return to Cedar Falls where they each placed fourth their last time at the Open. Both wrestlers finished the day with a 4-2 record.
Malcolm Allen (Jr., 285 lbs.) has placed in every open he has competed in his first season with the Mavericks this year including three third-place finishes and a fifth-place finish. Chris Zimmer (So., 197 lbs.) has placed in three out of the four open competitions he has traveled to this year, including a first-place finish at the Yellowjacket Open in Rochester, Minn., Nov. 1.
The Mavericks conclude the open-portion of their season with a visit to the Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nev., Saturday Dec. 21st.
