Lance Benick back to No. 1 in the nation

Totino-Grace’s Lance Benick wrestled his way to the No. 1 spot in the nation and remained there throughout his entire junior year. But in the junior championships this past summer in Fargo, N.D., Benick, along with his No. 1 ranking, were dropped to the mat by the hands of Apple Valley’s Bobby Steveson.

Steveson exited Fargo freshly crowned as the new No. 1, Benick just exited Fargo. After dropping in the rankings to No. 3 nationally, at the time he opened his senior season of wrestling, Benick reflected on what it meant for him over the summer after having his top-spot ranking taken away.
