Mavericks Top Marauders to Stay Perfect
MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State took down the University of Mary, 24-12, on Thursday evening. MSU won six out of ten matches and only lost by decisions.
With the win, the Mavericks improve to (4-0, 4-0 NSIC) and the Marauders fall to (1-8, 0-2).
Corey Abernathy (Fr., 184 lbs.) closed the door on U-Mary with a 7-2 decision win. His opponent, John DeVito (19-8), had the best record on the Marauders. In the third period, he recorded a takedown at the six-minute mark and held him down to collect the riding time point.
#4 Cody Quinn (Sr., 165 lbs.) won by a fall against Jered Keller. The fall happened at the 1:29 mark. Adam Cooling (So., 157 lbs.) had a decision win over Paul Michaelson.
After Da’Wayne Robertson (Jr., 125 lbs.) won by a forfeit, Alphonso Vruno (Jr., 141 lbs.) earned a win by a decision win of 12-5.
MSU has a quick turn around and will travel to #4 St. Cloud State on Saturday. The dual starts at 2:00 p.m.
