Minnesota State to Host Minot State on Friday, Travel to MSU Moorhead on Saturday

MANKATO, Minn. — The Mavericks start their dual season with a home contest against Minot State Friday at 7:00 p.m., followed by an away tilt at MSU Moorhead on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

The Mavericks (0-0, 0-0 NSIC) and the Dragons (1-1, 0-0 NSIC) both look to start their NSIC dual seasons with a win, while the Beavers (3-4, 1-0 NSIC) will look to build upon their first conference of the season.

MSU-Mankato MavericksNewcomers Da’Wayne Robertson (Jr., 125 lbs.) and Malcolm Allen (Jr., 125 285 lbs.) look to keep their winning ways alive at their first home dual. Both are former NJCCA members and are 20+ winners as Robertson has a 22-7 record and Allen has a 23-8 record.

Fourth rated Cody Quinn (Sr., 165) looks forward to his first home action since the 2012-13 season. Last season, he had a leg injury early in the year before MSU’s home schedule began. He holds a 6-3 record and placed 2nd at Buena Vista when he wrestled unattached.

Alphonso Vruno (Jr., 141 lbs.), Adam Cooling (So., 157 lbs.) and Darick Vancura (So., 174 lbs.) all return after being the cornerstone of Maverick wrestling last season. All three have double-digit wins so far.

After Friday’s dual, MSU travels up to MSU Moorhead for another conference dual.
