FARGO – The 2013 recruiting class for the North Dakota State wrestling team got plenty of attention in the college wrestling information circles. For instance, Amateur Wrestling News ranked it the second-best in the country behind the University of Michigan.
That’s some heavy-hitting company.
But just a year into the class’ redshirt freshman season, it’s becoming obvious the development of the Bison team this year will depend on the development of the youngsters. The Bison have a few steady veterans they can count on, like senior 174-pounder Kurtis Julson, junior 184-pounder Hayden Zillmer and senior heavyweight Evan Knutson, but it will be the likes of the freshmen and sophomores that could make or break a successful Western Wrestling Conference season.
