SJU Cruises to Win Over St. Olaf, 45-9

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John’s wrestling took advantage of five forfeits and three bonus-point wins in a 45-9 win over St. Olaf on Friday, Jan. 23, in Collegeville.

The Johnnies (4-12 dual record) picked up forfeit wins at 125, 133, 149, 184 and heavyweight.

Saint John's JohnniesJunior Ben Henle (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer) recorded a 17-1 technical fall in 5:50 to improve to 21-5 on the year at 141 pounds. He is ranked as high as seventh nationally by D3wrestle.com.

Sophomore Teddy Erickson (Annandale, Minn.) collected a 15-5 major decision at 165 pounds and senior Ryan Michaelis (Monticello, Minn.) improved to 8-1 at 197 with a pin, his fifth of the season, in 2:16. Michaelis, like Henle, is also ranked seventh nationally.

Carl Elmer improved to 14-4 for the Oles (1-3 dual record) with a pin at 157 pounds and Hugh Ellerman recorded a 12-7 decision at 174.

SJU sends its second team to the Lakeland Duals on Saturday, Jan. 24, in Plymouth, Wis. The Johnnies are scheduled to face the Milwaukee School of Engineering (11 a.m.), the host Muskies (12:30 p.m.) and Wisconsin-Platteville (2 p.m.).
