Three Mustangs rank in national and regional rankings

EDMOND, Okla. — Southwest Minnesota State wrestlers Jacob Begin and Cole Wilson are individually ranked in the regular season NCAA Division II National Wrestling Coaches Association poll released last Friday.

Both Jacob Begin and Wilson, along with teammate Kyle Begin, are also ranked in the region rankings that were announced last week as well.

SMSU MustangsJacob Begin, a senior from Anoka, Minn., is ranked fourth nationally at 174 pounds and is 14-1 this season. He is ranked No. 2 in this week’s Super Region 3 rankings.

Cole Wilson, a senior from Fairbault, Minn., is ranked fifth at 285 pounds and is third in the region rankings. He is 17-2 this season with eight falls recorded.

Kyle Begin, a junior from Anoka, Minn., is 3-2 this season and is ranked fifth in the region rankings at 165 pounds.

As a team, SMSU is ranked seventh in the 15-team Super Region 3 rankings.

Southwest Minnesota State University wrestling is idle this week and will resume and start up Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action next Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at Minnesota State.
