Minnesota States Dominates Northern State in Final Dual of Season, 44-6
Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State scores a dual season high 44 points en route to a 44-6 win over Northern State.
MSU (5-3, 5-3 NSIC) recorded four falls and two forfeits over NSU (2-11, 0-6 NSIC).
After the Wolves forfeited the first to matches of the dual, Alphonso Vruno (So., 141 lbs.) recorded eight takedowns en route to a 22-6 tech fall victory. Dylan Herman followed suit with a win of his own by a fall at the 3:55 mark.
Northern State got on the board with an 8-1 decision by Sean Havlovic over Sawyer Hoffman.
Minnesota State roared back with three more falls. In his last dual action of his career, #5 Cody Quinn (Sr., 165 lbs.) earned his fall in 0:45 seconds. After sitting out last weeks dual, Darick Vancura (So., 174 lbs.) only took 0:38 seconds on his fall. Corey Abernathy (Fr., 184 lbs.) recorded the last fall of the dual in 0:42.
Northern State’s last victory was at the hands of Joe Gomez over Scott VanDeLoo (Jr., 197 lbs.) by a decision score of 8-2. Malcolm Allen finished the dual off with an 8-3 decision win over Dusty Caspers.
Minnesota State will be idle for a week before hosting the NCAA Division II Super Region 3 Championships inside Taylor Center on February 28 and March 1.
