Vikings add two more to 2015-16 signing class

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana head wrestling coach Jason Reitmeier announced today the signing of two student-athletes for the 2015-16 season. Logan Donais from Big Lake, Minn. and Lukas Poloncic from Gillette, Wyo. Have signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Augustana.

“We are excited to announce the latest signings of our 2015-16 class,” Reitmeier said. “This class just keeps getting stronger and we look forward to the competition each of these student-athletes will bring to the room come next fall.”

Augustana VikingsDonais, the younger brother of current Augustana junior wrestler Deven Donais, is a 2015 graduate of Big Lake High School where he was a four-year letterwinner and two-time state qualifier. Donais finished his high school career with a record of 87-58 to go along with 193 career takedowns. He won the Section 6AA individual title junior season and was a finalist his senior season to make two straight trips to the Minnesota State Tournament. Donais earned All-Mississippi 8 Conference honors his sophomore season for the Hornets.

Poloncic is transferring to Augustana from Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., where he was a member of the national runner-up team in 2013-14. Poloncic graduated from Campbell County High School in 2013 as a three-time state champion. He finished 45-1 his senior season winning the 160-pound state title helping his team to its 11th state championship. Poloncic was the runner-up at 138 pounds with a 35-6 record as a junior. He finished 33-5 and won the 119-pound state title as a sophomore after going 34-6 with an individual state championship as a freshman. He was a member of three state championship teams and helped his squad to a runner-up finish junior season.

Donais and Poloncic bring the 2015-16 Augustana wrestling signing class to nine. They join Gable Verschoor, Duncan Stoebner, Shane Siewert, Zachary Determan, Bailey Neises, Joseph Fischenich and Matthew Rustad who all signed with Augustana earlier this season.

Augustana finished 18-5 in 2014-15, including 7-1 in NSIC competition which was good for a second place finish. Augustana sent three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships last season and had two All-America performers.

Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
