SDSU’s Pack selected for all-star meet

ATLANTA — South Dakota State University wrestler Cody Pack has been selected to compete at this weekend’s 50th annual National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic.

Pack, who is the first Jackrabbit wrestler to be invited to the prestigious exhibition event, is slated to face Mitch Minotti of Lehigh (Pa.) in a 157-pound matchup. The classic is scheduled to be televised at 4 p.m. Central Time Sunday on ESPNU.

SDSU JackrabbitsA senior originally from Quincy, California, Pack is a three-time NCAA qualifier who has compiled an 85-31 career record. He won back-to-back Western Wrestling Conference titles in 2014 and 2015, and finished one win away from earning All-America honors last season.

Minotti, a junior, is a two-time NCAA All-American, earning sixth place at 149 pounds in 2014 and eighth-place honors at 157 pounds last season.

Both wrestlers are ranked in the preseason top 10 of the 157-pound weight class by a pair of national websites and publications. Pack is ranked sixth by both and Amateur Wrestling News, while Minotti is fifth in the Amateur Wrestling News rankings and 10th by

The event, which will consist of 10 matches and include experimental scoring rules, will be held at McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus in Atlanta.
